New Shuttertime

The new shuttertime plugin takes in a set of grey, white or black samples and can modify there shuttertime. This plugin was developed during the initial stages of the project that preceded TIPP.

Theory

The plugin was developed to circumvent data saturation issues in white HSI reference samples. The camera would record values that were higher than the maximum 12 bit integer value, thus saturating the data.

During this research a linear relationship between shutter time and intensity was found, thus this linear relationship is used with a standard linear regression to obtain values for higher shuttertime values. The \(R^2\) values of these regressions were in the range of 0.9994 on the tested samples. This assumption is therefore verified and can be used for analysis.

Using the plugin

  1. Load up the plugin by selecting at least two of the same files (black grey or white).
  2. Fill in the filename and choose the new shuttertime.
  3. Run the algorithm and the output is saved and can be visualised with the normal visualisation plugin.
